NEW DELHI: Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra claimed that the batters Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer’s time is running out because to their recent performances.
Chopra stressed that Gill and Iyer had one more chance to make a difference in the second Test against England, which is now taking place in Visakhapatnam, after the young duo failed to contribute significantly.
On Friday, Chopra said on his YouTube channel, “Time is running out very fast for Gill and Iyer.” They still have one more chance, and I sincerely hope they score runs because if they don’t, things will get worse for them both.”
After evaluating Gill’s performance, Chopra said, “Shubman Gill got off to a good start. He did play a little aggressively at first, to be true, but in James Anderson’s next two overs, he picked up three edges. The keeper was also struck by the third edge, and he managed to escape. He had a terrible start. 34 runs won’t be sufficient.”
“Shreyas Iyer’s performance was likewise underwhelming. There wasn’t much confidence in the manner he was moving.
