Jofra Archer is expected to play for England in the Twenty20 World Cup.

Jofra Archer, a seamer who has spent the last year rehabilitating from his most recent injury issues, is almost ready to make his comeback, and England is prepared to have him in their T20 World Cup roster.

Due to a recurrence of a stress fracture in his problematic right elbow, Archer has not played competitive cricket since last May. However, he has been selected to lead England’s attack in a championship defence that is co-hosted by his home West Indies.

After several setbacks over the previous four years, the England and Wales Cricket Board has already declared Archer out of the Test arena until 2025 at the earliest. However, it is hopeful that the less demanding 20-over format will enable him to regain his full form and fitness.

Along with a squad to play Pakistan in a four-match home series at the end of May, a 15-man group will be unveiled on Tuesday. The team’s goal is to significantly improve upon their appalling 50-over title defense from the previous year.

Even though those who survived the trip had many negative recollections of India, there is no denying that the events of the current Indian Premier League have improved England’s prospects.

After a lackluster performance over a taxing winter, doubts had begun to surface about Jonny Bairstow’s status. However, last Friday, he cemented his spot in the Punjab Kings lineup with a brilliant 108 from 48 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders, leading his team to a T20 world record chase.

By the conclusion of the night at Eden Gardens, when Bairstow bashed eight fours and nine sixes, it seemed unthinkable that England would go to the Caribbean without the thirty-four-year-old.

His ideal position as captain Jos Buttler’s opening partner is still anticipated to belong to Phil Salt, who secured the top spot with consecutive hundreds against the West Indies in December. Phil Salt’s reputation has only been stronger in recent weeks due to his impressive play for the Knight Riders.

Will Jacks of Surrey is a perfect fit for Caribbean pitches because of his ability to bowl spin and smash hard.

By assuming a spot in the first-choice XI and peaking with a 41-ball century for Royal Challengers Bangalore only 24 hours before the selectors made their final decisions, he stood to gain directly from Ben Stokes’ decision to withdraw from the World Cup.

Another Englishman, Buttler, has had an incredible IPL season. His Rajasthan Royals team is presently leading the standings, which begs the intriguing question of whether he would be better off continuing to prepare for the business end of the franchise or going back to lead his country against Pakistan.

Tom Hartley is vying to be the additional spinner for England.

Seamer Reece Topley and all-rounders Liam Livingstone and Sam Curran are also expected to join from the IPL, while Harry Brook has been training with Yorkshire following his withdrawal from the competition for personal reasons.

Ben Duckett is trying to make the squad as the spare batter because of his left-handedness and versatility, which can be used anywhere in the top six.

With leg-spinner Rehan Ahmed and left-armer Tom Hartley in a battle, veteran spinners Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali will require some support.

Since becoming the youngest men’s international for England in the Twenty20 format last March, Ahmed has collected T20 caps. Hartley, who has never played a Test match before, impressed with his maturity during the recent Test tour of India and is a seasoned white-ball operator for Lancashire.

Gus Atkinson is expected to lead a supporting group that also includes Tymal Mills, Luke Wood, Brydon Carse, and Olly Stone. Chris Woakes is the most seasoned pace bowling option available and may be playing in his final global competition.
