Australia pace bowler Bartlett’s Kent move back on
- Xavier Bartlett, an Australian pace bowler, will play with Kent for their first eight T20 Blast matches this season.
The 25-year-old was signed by Kent at the end of February, and as per the conditions of his original contract, he was expected to be available for five of the first seven County Championship games and at least the first eight T20 Blast matches.
After a hectic winter playing in his native country, Cricket Australia pulled him from that scheduled stay; nevertheless, it has now been confirmed that Bartlett will join Kent for the commencement of their T20 league.
Bartlett has two one-day international caps in addition to his February T20 debut against the West Indies, where he took two wickets.
“We’ve been working extremely hard with Cricket Australia to ensure that Xavier can join us in some capacity this season, and we’re really pleased to have secured his services for eight matches of our T20 campaign,” Simon Cook, the cricket director for Kent, said.
“He deserves his new core deal with Australia and is currently a coveted commodity. The fact that the top wicket-taker in the Big Bash League (BBL) this winter will be wearing a Kent shirt in June is sure to delight Spitfires fans everywhere.
Bartlett helped the Brisbane Heat win Big Bash 13 by taking 20 wickets in 11 games.
