Harry Tolerate and Joe Root scored centuries for Yorkshire some time ago, and harmed Wayne Madsen drove a Derbyshire fightback on day two of the District Championship at Headingley.
Britain pair Tolerate and Root shared a fourth-wicket association of 201, supporting their county’s first-innings 450-5, with Tolerate top-scoring on 126 not out.
Yorkshire began the day on 276-3, with Root on 65 and Tolerate 44. Root made 119 and it was pronounced in no time after lunch.
But experienced Madsen compiled an unbeaten 88, sharing 167 for the fourth wicket with Brooke Visitor, who included 74 to Derbyshire’s close-of-play 190-3.
Root looked comfortable some time recently lunch and reverse-ramped seamer Zak Chappell for six after coming to his century.
Tolerate came to his most recent tonne off 102 balls and after that, he pulled Luis Reece’s left-arm crease for six over in reverse square-leg.
Yorkshire announced 15 minutes after lunch with a fifth batting point secured.
Tolerate was afterward shelled at mid-on by captain David Lloyd off Reece on 106.
Madsen cleared out the field, nursing his right hand and went to healing centre for treatment, but he came in at his normal number-four position with the score at 15-2 within the 6th over.
