Despite Prabhsimran Singh’s heroics, Punjab Kings are defeated by four wickets as Abhishek Sharma shines in a simple 200-plus chase.
Sunrisers Hyderabad finishes the league stage on a high thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s dominance in the Powerplay, Rahul Tripathi’s assistance, and clever batting from Nitish Reddy and Heinrich Klassen.
Lead by Abhishek, Powerplay
SRH has appeared to be a nearly flawless squad when batting first throughout the season, but they have frequently faltered when chasing totals. Similar to that, the pursuit for 215 got underway when Arshdeep Singh removed Travis Head with a beauty of a delivery. However, Abhishek Sharma and comeback man Rahul Tripathi tucked into Punjab’s bowlers.
With his outstanding batswing, Abhishek hit six sixes, making it his most sixes of the season with 41.
Punjab attempted, but failed, to limit the collaboration with slower ones. The harm was already done when Harshal Patel acquired Tripathi.

Hyderabad Punjab Kings vs. PBKS Sunrisers Abhsihek Sharma SRH
Summary: Sunrisers Hyderabad finishes the league stage on a good note thanks to Abhishek Sharma’s blitz in the Powerplay, Rahul Tripathi’s assistance, and clever batting from Nitish Reddy and Heinrich Klassen.
Klaasen is nitish and practices range-hitting.
When Nitish Reddy’s swing connected with the ball in between overs, it shot upwards into the spectators. The young all-around player made sure SRH kept up the pace even after the Powerplay by finding a great balance between attack and defense.
Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish’s mid-phase partner, exited to thunderous applause from the audience and did not let them down. The South African seems determined to put his six-hitting prowess to the test. When a spinner got going, Klaasen shifted to his back foot and went after the long-on area.
The South African took the hosts close for a while before being bowled while attempting a scoop shot against Harpreet Brar. After that, it was controlled aggressiveness. However, Sanvir Singh scored a boundary to guarantee SRH’s fifth victory at home this year.
Prabhsimran walks away.
Throughout the season, the Punjab opener has made threats to play a scorching innings. With a 97-run opening partnership, Prabhsimran and Atharva Taide placed pressure on SRH.
Prabhsimran cleared his left leg in order to reach the leg side, whereas the left-handed Taide depended more on timing. Every ball that was thrown up was whacked into the mid-wicket area, and he occasionally played a few naughty scoops.
Both Pat Cummins and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were too full or too short on a wicket that was not moving at all. The first breakthrough came from T Natrajan, who got Taide in the tenth over. Still, Rilee Rossouw—the lone Punjab player from outside the country—did his bit. His well-timed appearance boosted the innings even more.
But Prabhsimran’s attempt to heave a ball from Vijayakanth Viyaskanth on the leg-side was fortunate for SRH, as the ball struck the foot, swung in the air, and brushed the glove before ‘keeper Klaasen caught it. Jitesh Sharma, who was captain for the day, added the final touches with a 32 off of 15 balls, helping Punjab to 214.
Sunrisers Hyderabad 215/6 in 19.5 overs (Abhishek 66, Klaasen 42) defeated Punjab Kings 214/5 in 20 overs (Prabhsimran 71, Rossouw 49, Taide 46; Natarajan 2/33) by 4 wickets.
