Major League Cricket: Steve Smith joins Washington Freedom

Steve Smith has joined the Washington Freedom of Major League Cricket. For the first time, the 34-year-old Australian, who has amassed nearly 10,000 Test runs, will participate in the franchise tournament in the US.
He joins Freedom, who lost to eventual winners MI New York in the eliminator in 2023, under head coach Ricky Ponting.
The competition this year kicks out on July 4th, coinciding with the USA and West Indies’ hosting of the T20 World Cup.
Smith has been recruited to compete alongside fellow Australian internationals Adam Zampa (Los Angeles Knight Riders), Spencer Johnson (Knight Riders), and Tim David (MI New York).
