Which IPL team prevailed yesterday?
On May 9, the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium hosted a match between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. PBKS chose to bowl first against the RCB after winning the toss.
In Dharamsala, the RCB batting lineup provided an outstanding display of power, setting a respectable target of 241 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli maintained a strong innings record with his 92 from 47 balls. The owner of the Orange Cap smashed seven fours and six sixes, but Arshdeep Singh of PBKS removed Kohli in the eighteenth over.
At nine runs off of seven balls, Captain Faf du Plessis was removed from the game due to his lack of effect. Rajat Patidar, aside from Kohli, struck a fantastic 55 off 23 balls at a strike rate of 239.13, including 3 fours and 6 sixes. Other players included Cameron Green (46 off 27 balls), Will Jacks (12 off 7 balls), Dinesh Karthik (18 off 7 balls), Mahipal Singh (out at 0) and Swpnil Singh (not out at 1) among others.
Regarding PBKS’s innings, yesterday’s 60-run victory over Punjab was achieved by the RCB bowlers, who gave an outstanding display of bowling to bundle out Punjab for just 181 runs. Karn Sharma, Kockie Ferguson, Swapnil Singh, and Mohammed Siraj each claimed two wickets. Prabhsimran Singh and Jonny Bairstow, the openers, could not muster much as they scored six runs off of four balls and seven runs off of sixteen balls, respectively. For the PBKS, Rilee Rossouw had an outstanding game, hitting 61 off 27 balls with nine fours and three sixes. Other than him, Sam Curran got 22 off 16 balls and Shashank Singh scored 37 off 19 balls. The other players failed to score any significant runs; Rahul Chahar was still not out at five, while Jitesh Sharma was out at five, Liam Liingstone scored zero, Ashutosh Sharma scored eight, Harshal Patel (0), and Arshdeep Singh (4).
Following yesterday’s game, RCB had 10 points from five wins, seven losses, and a seventh-place finish. With four victories, eight losses, and eight points overall, PBKS sits in ninth position. Punjab has exited the competition.
IPL 2024 match between PBKS and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)
: After being dismissed by Punjab Kings, Rilee Rossouw, the previous captain of RCB, responded hilariously. The man wearing the orange cap imitated the celebration that Rossouw did after being out of the game on May 9 in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium.
This is what transpired:
PBKS Rossouw honoured his half-century with a gun-style celebration during the game. With eight fours and two sixes, Rossouw reached his second fifty in just twenty-one balls. But Karn Sharma of the RCB removed Rossouw in the 8.6th over after Will Jacks made a catch. Rossouw finished with a strike percentage of 225.93, scoring 61 in 27 balls with nine fours and three sixes. The funny part, though, was when Kohli gave Rossouw back the same celebration after being removed.
