Unwin & Holl lead GB to a clean sweep at World Cup
At the Para-Cycling Road World Cup in Ostend, the British podium was swept by Paralympic silver medalists Sophie Unwin and Jenny Holl.
The two now have more honours after winning the women’s B time trial gold on Friday. They also won the road race.
Teammates Lizzi Jordan and Danni Khan narrowly defeated Lora Fachie and Corrine Hall in a race for second place, finishing two minutes and 37 seconds behind the victors. They finished in two hours and 10.36 seconds.
Fin Graham also won gold in the C3 race, defeating Thomas Peyroton Dartet of France in a thrilling finish line sprint. Jaco van Gass, another Briton, finished third, five seconds behind Graham. In the C4 event, Archie Atkinson finished in the same time as Kevin Le Cunff of France, but the Frenchman was awarded the victory. He had previously won the bronze in the time trial. Additionally, Fran Brown won a silver in the C1 event, and Daphne Shrager lost the women’s C2 race to Flurina Rigling of Switzerland by three seconds. With the men’s C2, Matthew Robertson finished with a bronze.
This means that, two weeks before the next round of racing in Maniago, Italy, the GB team concluded with sixteen medals.
