The Judgement Day Kicks Off Raw: Jey Uso vs. Finn Balor
- Experience the electrifying start to Raw as Judgement Day unfolds, featuring a thrilling matchup between Jey Uso and Finn Balor. Stay tuned for all the action and excitement
48 hours after The Archer of Infamy defeated Jey Uso to retain his championship, and despite informing his teammates he did not want them to be involved in the event, world heavyweight champion Damian Priest and The Judgement Day began Raw.
Rather than the implosion of the group, it was a night of reconciliation as Priest apologised for voicing his dissatisfaction with JD McDonagh and Finn Bálor in Lyon, France.
An exuberant Bálor, expecting he would prolong Judgement Day’s momentous two days by progressing in the King of the Ring tournament via bye owing to an injury suffered by Drew McIntyre, found out that would not be the case as Adam Pearce stated he would still compete.
Who is his rival? The world title was lost by the same Uso.
Throughout most of the middle of the contest, the Irishman kept Uso grounded and stopped the dramatic comeback.
When Jey did fight back, it seemed like McIntyre, furious at the events that led to his disqualification from the competition, would enter the match late and cost him the victory.
To the Scot’s dismay, the babyface maintained his composure, took down Bálor with a spear, and proceeded in the competition.
The most overrated guy on the brand made an appearance, there was a great bout, and the rivalry between Uso and McIntyre was reignited. All of this added to the latest developments in the Judgement Day tale.
Almost every minute of this exciting first thirty minutes added something new to the unfolding narrative.
Highlights and Key Learnings
Priest’s apology to his Judgement Day colleagues didn’t seem sincere; rather, it was more of a formality than an admission that a champion was sorry for holding them accountable.
When it was revealed prior to the show that Bálor would be facing Uso in the King of the Ring, it was undoubtedly his decision to behave as though he had a bye because of McIntyre’s injury.
As has been the case for the past eight months, Uso’s pop was fantastic.
Pat McAfee stated on commentary, “He just got yeeted in the mouth,” a statement that few could have imagined hearing on the flagship programme a year ago.
It is poetic irony that Uso has benefited from McIntyre’s misery, considering that “Main Event” was one of the individuals who denied him the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Clash at the Castle in 2022.
