Glasgow is among the probable hosts of the 2026 Commonwealth Games – although the city is the last resort to hold the troublesome edition.
In light of the ongoing uncertainty about the event’s long-term future, the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) announced this week that it was “considering multiple proposals”.
As the Australian state of Victoria withdrew as host in July because to mounting expenses, Singapore this week joined Malaysia in rejecting a candidacy.
Should any of the fresh bids from outside the UK not prove viable, there is a back-up concept which would bring a scaled-back Games to Scotland.
