Jofra Archer: England bowler keen to avoid ‘another stop-start year’ after injury problems
Jofra Archer, England’s pace sensation, is determined to steer clear of injury setbacks and maintain consistent performance, aiming to avoid another disrupted year on the cricket field.
Jofra Archer states, “I don’t know if I’ve got another stop-start year in me,” indicating that he will find it difficult to handle any more setbacks due to injuries. Archer has struggled with injuries ever since winning the World Cup with England in 2019. He last participated in a competitive match in May 2023. He has now been ruled out due to a stress fracture that recurred in his right elbow last year. However, the fast bowler wants to be back in time for June’s T20 World Cup.
Since it’s been a while, I’m not sure if I have it in me to have another year of ups and downs. That’s the reality; I’m not sure if I have any more,” he said in an interview with the 4Cast programme Athlete’s Voice.
It hasn’t been a whole year since I last played cricket. I performed from January to May of last year.
“I think the year before that I played maybe one or two games for Sussex, so you know I’ve had a whole year of nothing.”

Before making appearances in four One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals between January and March 2023, Archer had been away from international cricket for almost two years.
Nevertheless, as they look to retain their T20 World Cup title, England will be eager to have the seamer in their lineup.
On June 1st, the competition in the United States and the Caribbean gets underway.
