In their T20 World Cup qualification warm-up in the United Arab Emirates, Ireland defeated Thailand by eight wickets, with captain Laura Delany hitting the winning runs on her 200th cap.
Delany is the first female Irish cricket player to attain the milestone. She also took two wickets.
Due to record-breaking rain in Dubai on Tuesday, the opening Twenty20 match was cancelled, and Ireland went on to win the series.
On Thursday, April 25, they take on the UAE in the first round of World Cup qualifying.
In Abu Dhabi, they play the USA on Tuesday and Scotland on Sunday in their final warm-up matches.
With one over remaining, Ireland held Thailand to 79 all out, thanks to bowlers Delany (2) and the excellent Arlene Kelly (4–12).
Gaby Lewis was dismissed in the first over, giving Ed Joyce’s team a rocky start at the wicket. However, Amy Hunter (31) and Orla Prendergast (32) set up Captain Delany to seal the victory on her historic debut.
