Arsenal v Bayern Munich: Can Harry Kane haunt Gunners again in Champions League last eight?

    • As Arsenal faces Bayern Munich in the Champions League last eight, the question arises: can Harry Kane, with his history of impacting matches against Arsenal, haunt the Gunners once more? Find out the anticipation surrounding this crucial match-up.

When Harry Kane left Tottenham for Bayern Munich in the summer, Arsenal may have believed they had seen the last of him, but he is back in north London with the intention of eliminating Mikel Arteta’s team from the Champions League.

In the first leg of the quarterfinal on Tuesday, the Gunners host Bayern.

With 14 goals in the Premier League, the 30-year-old has more goals than any other player versus Arsenal. The joint-highest number of goals for a player who is not an Arsenal player came at the Emirates, five.

With 38 goals in his first 37 appearances in Germany, Kane has had an incredible start to his career.

With 32 goals so far, he is easily winning the European Golden Shoe, which is awarded to the highest scorer in any of Europe’s top divisions. He has never won this award before.

The England captain is just the fourth player in Bundesliga history to reach that mark, following Dieter Muller of Cologne and three-time Bayern greats Gerd Muller and Robert Lewandowski.

Kane is nothing to worry for Arsenal, claims Odegaard.
Check out the most recent Football Daily podcast.
Lewandowski’s 41 goals for Bayern in the 2020–21 Bundesliga season set a record that Kane would need to break with 10 goals in his final six games.

“He’s going to win the European Golden Shoe this year, and all of this will add to the perception that, yes, he is a fantastic striker,” European football journalist Guillem Balague stated on the Euro Leagues Show on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“He surpasses Lewandowski’s record, and legendary status becomes apparent.”

“He’s adjusted so fast. He is attempting to learn German, and his wife and four children are present. He is still performing well despite stepping outside of his comfort zone and into a pressure cooker.”

Furthermore, Kane has scored six goals in the Champions League this season, more than any other player.

Given that Kane hasn’t won anything in his ten years on the Tottenham first team, this competition might be his best opportunity to take home his first significant trophy.

With six games remaining, his new team, which had won 11 straight Bundesliga titles, is now 16 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen.

Leverkusen’s victory over Werder Bremen on Sunday would be the first time since the beginning of April 2013 that Bayern have not been the German champions. If Thomas Tuchel’s team loses to second-bottom Cologne at home in an unlikely match, that fact may even be confirmed on Saturday.

“If Kane had more titles he would be seen in a different way to everyone – the proof of it is the Ballon d’Or,” stated Balague.

The fact that he has never placed higher than tenth indicates how well-liked you are. Without a doubt, he is currently at a great club, working hard to get there, and he is succeeding.”

Mina Rzouki, a European football writer, stated: “Harry Kane has seemed to have it so easy. This season, Bayern has had setbacks, but he has stepped in and settled right in. It would be quite unfortunate if he came away empty-handed.”
