Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson officially sanctioned as professional fight

    • Stay informed on boxing news: Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are set to face off in a sanctioned professional fight.

The bout between former world champion Mike Tyson and YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul this summer has been formally approved as a professional match.

It implies that the result of the fight, which is set for July 20 in Texas, will be noted on both fighters’ records.

Before taking on Paul, Tyson, whose professional career came to an end in 2005, would turn 58 three weeks before his last fight, which was an exhibition in 2020.

In March, Paul triumphed against Ryan Bourland in his tenth professional bout.

“Mike Tyson and Jake Paul agreed to fight each other with the intention of doing so in a professionally sanctioned match with a clear winner,” MVP Promotions’ Nakisa Bidarian stated.

In 1987, Tyson became the first heavyweight boxer to hold the WBA, WBC, and IBF championships concurrently. However, his unbeaten streak ended abruptly in 1990 when he lost to Buster Douglas in one of the biggest upsets in boxing history.

Even though he momentarily reclaimed the WBA and WBC crowns in 1996, Tyson lost his next two fights to Evander Holyfield, with the second one ending in Tyson’s disqualification for chewing off a portion of Holyfield’s ear.

Tyson’s criminal history includes convictions for rape in 1992, for which he served three years of a six-year prison term, and road rage violence in 1999, for which he served three months of a twelve-month sentence.

He recovered in time to participate in an exciting matchup in 2020 against fellow former world champion Roy Jones Jr. Paul’s battle against the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys will take place in Arlington’s AT&T Stadium, which can hold 80,000 spectators.

With his lone loss occurring in February 2023 against British heavyweight boxer Tommy Fury, Paul has won nine of his ten fights, the majority of which have been against former UFC fighters.
